Casa Labia is a hidden gem tucked away in Muizenberg. Blink and you'll miss it as you drive along the coast towards Kalk Bay & Simon's Town. With a rich history that started almost 100 years ago, to "reflect the spirit of 18th century Venice, Casa Labia is the former Muizenberg residence of Count and Countess Natale Labia" and has been open to the public since 2010. It's a time capsule into another world, ideal for intimate and less traditional weddings.
I've photographed multiple weddings at Casa Labia, and each one is as unique as the couple I was fortunate enough to photograph. This one, however, is extra special since I've known Christine since I was 16 years old. Christine immigrated abroad with her one true love, but came back to South Africa to celebrate their wedding day with their friends and family. Naturally, for them, the focus of the photos was more on the people around them than on themselves. Celebrating their day without too many wedding traditions and keeping the formalities to a minimum. It was an honour to document the many laughs, happy tears, hugs, smiles, and smooth dance moves of the day, providing their very own time capsule of their unforgettable wedding day.
What are your thoughts on Casa Labia's unique interior and Chrisitne & Dawie's intimate, less traditional wedding day? Could you see yourself living out your Bridgerton royalty dream at Casa Labia?
