I'm delighted to share this whimsical picnic engagement session! I met Daniel and Maxine for the first time while photographing Daniel's family in Kirstenbosch. After they got engaged, they approached me to photograph their engagement and wedding day! It's the highest honour and praise any photographer can receive. They're getting married at Landtscap in November 2026 (one of my personal favourite wedding venues), and they've decided to photograph their engagement at Landtscap as well. It was such a treat to have the whole space to ourselves, play in the sun, awestruck by the surrounding mountain ranges and Stellenbosch valley below. Maxine came prepared with a cute little picnic set-up! I will always welcome this idea if it's something you personally enjoy and find that it helps to make you relaxed and at ease (especially if you're nervous in front of the camera).
So sit back, relax, and enjoy a beautiful spring day where we celebrated the love between Maxine and Daniel at Landtscap.
On special request, I've also snapped some moments on two separate film cameras. These photos are raw, real, imperfect, and the reasons why I love shooting film. What are your thoughts when it comes to digital vs film photography?
